Tramec, LLC Acquires the Operating Assets of Chicago Extruded Metals

Tramec, LLC is excited to announce the acquisition of the operating assets of Chicago Extruded Metals (CXM) from Berkshire Investments, LLC, effective November 25, 2024. This strategic acquisition marks a significant milestone for Tramec, as it expands their growing footprint of manufacturing sites throughout the United States.

Founded in 1923, Chicago Extruded Metals has a storied history as a pioneer in the recycling of turnings and used brass materials. Over its 100-year legacy, CXM has become a trusted supplier of Brass, Bronze, and Nickel Silver alloys, serving diverse industries including Automotive, Aerospace, Mining, Architectural, and Electronics.

CXM’s facility, located at 1601 South 54th Avenue in Cicero, Illinois, will continue to operate under Tramec’s ownership. Tramec is committed to building on CXM’s tradition of excellence, offering custom alloys, specialty extruded shapes, and small batch production to help customers optimize efficiency, reduce scrap, and shorten cycle times.

As part of the acquisition, Tramec plans to invest in key manufacturing upgrades to enhance production capabilities and improve delivery performance. These upgrades are designed to further elevate the quality and service that CXM’s customers have come to expect.
